Is Marijuana A Harmful Drug Or A Beneficial Medicine
Is marijuana a harmful drug or a beneficial medicine? A Review of the Literature Marijuana has been utilized for many years by a diverse selection of people. Each user having their own unique reasons for their strong believe in one natural plantââ¬â¢s ability to heal and enlighten. However the plant remains to be classified as a scheduled one. As stated by the United States Drug Enforcement Association, ââ¬Å"drugs, substances, and certain chemicals used to make drugs are classified into five (5) distinct categories or schedules depending upon the drugââ¬â¢s acceptable medical use and the drugââ¬â¢s abuse or dependency potentialâ⬠(DEA). Among marijuana, schedule one also contains heroin, LSD, and ecstasy. Since cannabis is compared to a drug like heroin, the uninformed society often questions the legalization and use of medical marijuana. This review of literature considers the use of marijuana and whether utilization of the drug is beneficial or detrimental by responding to the following questions: What is marijuana? What are its effects on the human brain? What are its effects on the human body? Is marijuana addictive? What can medical marijuana be used for?
